In the rural Andes and Indigenous communities of the Amazon, however, the beginning of the school year marks a critical turning point\u2014one that determines whether education continues or is interrupted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the start of the academic year, barriers that exist year-round become decisive. Transportation costs, school supplies, uniforms, and the time required to reach distant schools create immediate pressure on households already living with limited resources. For families dependent on subsistence agriculture or informal labor, these costs are not marginal. They define whether children can return to the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the rural Andes, geography amplifies economic exclusion. Children often travel long distances on foot, navigating steep terrain and unsafe paths to reach the nearest school. The consequences extend beyond individual children, reinforcing cycles of poverty and limiting opportunities for entire communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This moment demands timely action. Supporting education at the start of the school year has a measurable impact on attendance, retention, and learning continuity. Interventions that address economic and geographic barriers at this stage are among the most effective ways to protect a child\u2019s right to education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our work focuses precisely on this critical window. Through education access programs designed for rural Andean and Amazonian contexts, we address the economic constraints that prevent children from returning to school. These programs combine targeted education support, community-based delivery, and intercultural approaches that respect local realities and languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Impact is tracked through clear indicators: school attendance, grade progression, and continuity throughout the academic year. Acting early is not symbolic\u2014it is essential. When access is secured at the beginning of the school year, children are far more likely to remain in school and complete their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As classes begin, the difference between returning to school or being left behind is often decided in days.
